"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."
Che: first out the door and off to a local film festival (ISO 3200, f2.5, 1/250th)
Poet: reaching, reaching (ISO 100, f2.2, 1/320th)
Perhaps it was fate but only days after I wrote this post Daniel and I found an almost-new Canon 5D mkiii online for a good price. We ummed and ahhed and finally took the leap. The gf1 will still be the camera I carry around each day but the canon...well, it's time to start taking photos on a professional level; for pregnant women, families and businesses.

Oh Audrey, you have the sweetest face and bed hair / little Penny on the train; pretty as can be / quite serious but always gorgeous, Maile / portraits by Jane Mabel always impress / and Grace and Tom - oh my, Ali is one talented photographer.

I love the fact both pictures are related by one thing, "holding onto something". Beautiful photos as usual. Good luck with the new camera! x
ReplyDeleteI love the echoing of their body positions. So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe Mark III does not disappoint. My husband catches me calling him Mark from time to time (joking). Lovely images, Jodi. Can't wait to see more from that maternity shoot.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the mention, Jodi. You are a photography 'hero' of mine, and that small vote of confidence means a great deal to me! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for the mention Jodi. In the last 47 weeks you have provided me with the confidence and self belief to take photos I am both proud of and that show my daughter for the child she is. I cannot wait to see the next step in your photo journalism journey. Much love for the week ahead xxx
ReplyDeleteOoooh I am so excited for you! I have always wondered what your photos would be like with a 5D mkiii, and now I (and we all) will know! Yay! Can I ask what lens you got with it? I'm guessing a prime?
ReplyDeleteLovely first photos on your new baby. I love the reaching shot, although from that shot it looks like Poet is quite tall already!
Ooohhh, it is exciting! The 50mm 1.4 came with it - a great lens to start with. Yesterday I had the opportunity to use the 40mm 2.8 (very similar to the lens I use on the gf1) and I really liked it so I think I'll get that next (it's really affordable). And then? I'll probably go for the 35mm 1.4.
DeleteAs for Poet's height...yes, she's really tall! x
Sorry to crash this comment Jodi, but just wondered if the 40mm 2.8 was as close-up as the 50mm. I have that one right now, but I'm looking for one that offers a wider view (not sure that's the technical term!) and as the 40mm is so affordable I'm hoping it may be the one I'm looking for!
DeleteThank you x
I think it's a great idea - you can weave your words and pictures for others too! x
ReplyDeleteI'm very excited to hear this! x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new camera and the new venture! You will be fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteThese colours Jodi! I love your work, it just keeps getting better and better!
ReplyDeleteI love how they are both reaching this week. And how is Che's watch! I love it! I am so excited for you on both your new venture and your new camera. You will take to this very well. xo
ReplyDeleteIt's a great little watch. Daniel's mum got it from Kmart, I think (quite cheap!) x
